George Claassen At Stellenbosch University

The Freethinking Maties are hosting George Claassen

Join us on Wednesday 12 August at 13.00, when we will be hosting well-known science writer Prof. George Claassen. Prof Claassen is a lecturer in science journalism at the US Journalism Department, maintains an active blog about science and rational thinking (http://prometheusongebonde.wordpress.com/), and has authored several books, including Geloof, Bygeloof en Ander Wensdenkery: Perspektiewe op Ontdekkings en Irrasionaliteite. He is also the founder of ScepticSA.

Date: Wednesday 12 August
Time: 13.00
Venue: Jannasch Lecture Hall, Konservatorium (Music Department). To get there, use the FRONT ENTRANCE of the Music Department (that is, the entrance with the steps). It will be open because of a lunch-hour concert. When you walk in the double doors, go straight ahead. The wooden doors to the Jannasch Hall are to the left of the ticket box, under a big mural.

See the Facebook event.

See you there!

Thanks. Not that I can get to Stellenbosch, but the man’s blog is really good reading, and REALLY SCARY.

PS - I hope you don’t mind, but I posted your announcements over on Mybroadband, time being short until these lectures.

Will try to make it. Any other Freethinking Maties on this forum?

Awesome, the more the merrier.

I don’t know.

I’m not going to be able to go after all… :frowning:
Let us know how it went if you can make it!

It was a great talk. He had a look at the intersection between science and religion and how some authors like Dennet and Dawkins view it. Had a very interesting group discussion afterwards.

You missed out!
