We expected this of course, but the newspapers abound with stories about God going around, performing miracles in Christchurch - proof that he loves us and gives us hope. And the bible has warned us about earthquakes, not so?
It seems to me God loves the Kiwis in Auckland more, considering that they did not have an earthquake.
Tis true, God is the origin of everything. He creates suffering then helps (some of) those who are suffering to show how cool he is. It’s like a magician setting something on fire then going “HAH! look I fixed (some of) it! TADA!”
so god hates them enough to flatten their houses and kill them at random, in horrific ways. but loves a few enough, to trap them in rubble, mangle them, and then help them survive the insane claustrophobia, crushed limbs, thirst and hunger, so that he can get a hard-on for the ‘miracle’? this god guy is really a douche.
I suppose when you live in a place named christ-church, then miracles are to be expected, I havent come across any doom and gloom tales of why the earthquakes hit them - so it would appear the religious are holding the stance that its the devil’s work this time around (as opposed to god punishing the sinners as the usual story goes)
SuperCal - 2 hours ago Report comment Hardus, imagine what the world would be like if God intervened in Nature every time. We would have no remorse or fear. Life would be just dandy and anarchy would prevail. God gave New Zealand the best trained ERT specialists in the world. Whats the miracles that come out of this disaster. Have you been in an Earthquake lately...Dont worry God was so busy protecting you that he forgot for a second about New Zealand...Dont be a plonker all your life...for every action there is a consequence.
Great Pandora, but I do at times enjoy the comments more than the actual report.

Give them time, they’ll start proclaiming retribution and end times any minute now…
A steady year-on-year decrease in the relative frequency of Christians, and a corresponding increase in those reporting no religious affiliation. The curmudgeons and pagans remain stable at a low level. It’s clear that the worrying increase in heresy and apostasy persuaded this god that some instruction in the finer points of loyalty are in order.
