Nit picking at labels

Nit picking is not always a bad thing. It does a lot, for example, by way of warding off louse infestations.

On a bottle of mouthwash, I noted yesterday a brazen declaration: “Zero alcohol”. But turning the bottle around I find listed as ingredients sorbitol, glycol and menthol (although the latter may be a phenol).

It’s a bit like banning all cars from driving on the beach, and then have a transgressor telling the beach guard that what he was driving was actually Jeep.

Rigil

My favourite one is fruit juice labeled as “no extra sugar” and then the ingredients list includes “deflavoured grape or apple juice.” I.e., sugar water.
