Public Lecture by Nobel Laureate Richard Nernst at Wits

The School of Chemistry invites you to a Lecture by Professor Richard Ernst (ETH Zürich)

Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, 1991

My Pathway into Science and Beyond

Date: Friday 22 January 2010
Time: 14h15
Venue: Humphrey Raikes Building (Chemistry), C9

Prof. Ernst’s life was guided by a long sequence of lucky events that led to historical developments in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. The ups and downs, the fascination and the doubt balanced themselves. The overwhelming success of NMR in molecular biology and in clinical medicine came as a surprise. Many developments, including exploring the functioning of the brain, can be expected.

ALL WELCOME

THIS IS A GENERAL LECTURE AIMED AT A NON-SCIENTIFIC AUDIENCE.

The timing’s a bit awkward but the lecture will doubtless be well worth attending.
