Dit klink vir my of die skrywer se idee van wat 'n wonderwerk is nie heeltemal dieselfde is as Tweefo s’n nie. Die skrywer sien 'n wonderwerk blykbaar as enige gunstige toevalligheid wat ooreemstem met hoop wat in gebed vervat is, of so 'n uitkoms nou 'n natuurlike verklaring het al dan nie. So 'n siening maak egter die hele konsep van 'n wonderwerk afgewater, want duidelik word geen goddelike ingryping noodwendig daarvoor benodig nie.

Sal nie verbaas wees as die skenker dood is in 'n ongeluk nie. So as hy kon, sou hy waarskynlik nie die skrywer se entosiasme deel vir die gewaande wonderwerk nie.

Wel, as jy facebook glo is god baie besig om plaas vir plaas die mense se ongeplante plantasies te gaan water gee nou dat dit hopeloos te laat is en ons voedsel tekorte in die gesig staar. Dis ook 'n wonderwerk! Maw. Die drempel vir wonderwerk is moer laag deesdae.

Dit is een van die probleme met die konsep van 'n wonderwerk - net die meer gunstige onwaarskynlike toevallighede word as sulks beskou. As ouma per toeval in die pad van 'n vallende meteoriet beland, dink niemand dit is a wonderwerk nie, hoe onwaarskynlik ook al. (Behalwe dalk haar erfgename?)
Die ander probleem is natuurlik dat ons geen duidelike manier het om 'n wonderwerk te onderskei van 'n natuurlike fenomeen wat ons nog nie verstaan nie.
Maar ek preek natuurlik hier vir die verkeerde gehoor. 🙂

Ah but some of the true joys are seeing ministers debunk evolution-deniers, or seeing long-lost acquaintances apply skepticism even if you never expected it from them.

I find Facebook very useful for keeping in touch with friends. The trick is to only friend people on FB who are actually your friends. I have a long list of friend requests that I just ignored, from people I don’t know, or that I used to know but hope never to have to deal with again.
