This one? It’s tragically comic (or comically tragic). What drops my jaw is how many people fall right into what has quite unintentionally become a trap. Reading any three or more successive responses in that thread should be ample to show it’s a spoof. Obviously, they don’t read far enough or simply filter out the meaning of what they read. It’s sad to think that there are so many depressed and insecure people out there who so desperately grab and grope at the vaguest hope of guidance. It’s also a reflection of how people are becoming more and more dependent on and desperate for the quick fix and the easy out. How can scepticism possibly grow on such a fallow substrate, let alone thrive?

Ek’t dit nie gesien nie maar dis duidelik die arme ding het issues sonder tissues. Shame man! Ek dag maar net ek sal hom/haar/dit verwelkom maar dis blykbaar ook nie wat sy/dit/of hy wou gehad het nie.

Sy’t nie eens gevra vir 'n “reading” nie, slegs om hulp, vir my het dit dadelik na 'n stalker gevoel (het 'n paar al raakgeloop deur die jare en die donners begin altyd met 'n Jannie-Jammergat houding).
Mens groet mos voor mens hulp vra dan nie? Selfs die ouens by die verkeersligte groet mens eers voor hulle jou vertel wat hulle issues is en dan steek hulle die hande uit.
Buiten dit, ek was werklik in 'n lus vir niks nonsens bui ook, shame, die universe het nie in haar guns getel nie.
Wat my verstand te bowe gaan is dat daardie thread baie duidelik na vore bring dat dit 'n klomp nonsens is, lees mense dan werklik so selektief/glad nie?

Why is it that everybody seems to think we’re morbid and rude? We’re a fairly happy lot in my humble opinion, and we’ve got a wicked sense of humour.

Two reasons that I can see. First, they typically don’t understand the first thing about where we’re coming from and equally typically haven’t the least desire to find out. And second, they confuse frankness/directness with rudeness, and a suspicious/questioning attitude with morbidity. It’s always easy to revile things you don’t understand.
The difference is that we don’t go around in a sulk, whining how misunderstood we are, and wishing misfortune upon those who vex us. But what fun it is to watch when someone else does it… >:D

I think they are completely absorbed in a culture of feelings. Everything is good in the world as long as you capitulate to people’s feelings all the time. Rocking the boat is frowned upon… but we don’t function like that: to us the truth trumps emotions. We don’t acknowledge emotions in debate. They do.
IMHO that’s why they think we’re “lashing out” when we question. The only possible reason they can think of for us “wanting to hurt their feelings” is because we’re supposedly unhappy and have a need to make others (them) unhappy too.
Hmm. Miskien is die “punt” van debat/stry vir sekere mense om die ander persoon seer te maak. Dus as jy debatteer, wil jy hulle seermaak. Dus wil hulle jou eerste seermaak…
