Economic meltdown and other conspiracies

How many of you on this forum have watched ‘Zeitgeist’ and/or support the notion that the banks’ meltdown worldwide was manipulated by governments to gain control of the international monetary systems? What worries me most is/was the commonly used terms by politicians: ‘new world order’ (quoting Gordon Brown); a ‘single world currency’; ‘central control of banks’ etc etc. Now we see the bank levies which will only be passed on to us poor suckers making the rich richer.

i did watch zeitgeist. and i suspect the dvd came via yourself to gavin then the rest of our office.
it boggles the mind that we are slaves to our banks, who are slaves to the reserve bank, to whom our banks will eternally be in debt to.
i was thinking, the other day, if some virus or something had to fry all the worlds circuitry, how am i, or you, or anybody else, going to prove how much money they have?
do you have physical money that you can trade off for food. without an atm you dont.
do you have gold? not really.
gems, silver?
if the world’s banks wanted to, they could have us all at their mercy.
your boss cant pay you a salary, cos the banks hold their money.
if you had to barter for food, you are basically screwed. well i am anyways.

to your point though, it is inevitable for the world to move to one currency, like the scifi people refer as a ‘credit’. how the hell that is going to work, is anybody’s guess.
i think if we knew the intricacies of how absolutely the governments of the world control you, you might go sit and a corner and lose your mind.
point and case, Fica and Rica. why the fuck do they need to know where you stay? if i tell you this is my address, then it fucking is.
they are now going to track your car via the numberplate too. so they know where you are going. your car tracking system allready knows. they can pinpoint you with your internet and cellphone…
and yet terrorists elude them?
come now.

the reality is, we are making the rich richer, and allways have. the more advanced the technology becomes, the more they control you. they know what you eat, what clothes you buy. what porn you surf.
if you google something, it remembers, and adds specific to your search history shows when you access a site.
when you swipe your credit card, they know.
anybody has access to your credit history online. to your traffic fines. your home address. your cellphone number. people can hack into your webcam and look what you are doing.
people can hack into your email, bank account…
and if some random geek can do it, you better believe the government has been doing it for ages.

the CD was via Gavin to me…you know what he’s like! >:D With all the shit that’s going down I’m working on ways to fly beneath Big Brother’s radar. No credit cards; I’m closing down my bank accounts so no Fica (takes a while to get the overdraft paid off) ???; cancelled my cell phone contract so no Rica…my cars I still have so that’s a croc but our property is registered in a cc and my taxes are a screw up so I’m screwed there as well but I will SUCCEED!

I have not seen Zeitgeist, but I do not suspect a deliberate conspiracy by governments for the recent recession. The world economy had gone through a protracted period of prosperity during which the availability of credit had become too easy. Debt had become enormous and after the collapse of Lehman Brothers banks no longer trusted each other, resulting in a freeze in interbank lending. Measures are gradually being put in place by regulators to prevent a recurrence. While there is debate on the extent to which banks should be regulated, perceiving it as a worldwide governmental onslaught to gain control of banks would be paranoid. Western governments are generally firmly behind private enterprize and some Eastern governments are reforming in that direction.

I have seen the first two parts of Zeitgeist and it consists of the biggest load of bollocks imaginable. I can but presume the third part on banking wouldn’t fare any better.

cychost. what of the movie was bollocks. i mean, factually now. i thought it was quite awesome, and i thought it gave me lank ammo against the woo-mind when i need to fight it.
i’d hate to use that info, and be made a moron of when someone points out its complete nonsense.
or did you just hate the whole static for nine hundred hours at the beginning of the thing?

CCG

Basically the two thirds that I watched is utter bollocks though and through.

Part 1 tries to draw parallels between the zodiac and xtianity and Jesus and Horus specifically. Any closer scrutiny makes these comparisons fall apart like a house of cards in a storm.

The second part rehashed tired old 911 conspiracy crap.

A quick google search gives me this which you can use as starting point for further research. I just remember all the discussions on evilbible, dawkisnet and JREF at the time (and probably ongoing on the last one ;)) and my own further investigations which led to my conclusion.

I, too, don’t think we should use bullshit to fight bullshit.

Thanks for the link cyg. I’m not a conspiracy theorist myself and it’s always good to have some ammunition to argue against it. That said, my concern as I stated above is the current dynamic which seems to confirm (in the economic world) some of the predictions made and I’m a total skeptic when it comes to big govt…you just can’t trust them. I support the notion that there is no such thing as a ‘good’ government.

I didn’t watch the third part and cannot make any comments on predictions it may have made. The first two thirds were interesting enough, although simply wrong on most counts. (lies are interesting?), but economics, ironically bores me.

I’d certainly support as little government as possible

im having a bit of an issue regarding the link to this debunking site.
this dude, Edward L Winston, seems to be pro-xtian, and when one googles his name, all you find is woos using his debunkings as ammo.
i found another site http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4196, he gets a bit more into it.
but im still wanting to hear, that this is the lie, and this is the truth. these guys just says they are wrong, but they dont say where he is wrong.
http://ipb.quicksilverscreen.com/index.php?showtopic=73680 this is a random debate i found about zeitgeist, but the one guy, ultraforge, makes some interresting commens in general, which i quite enjoyed.

im still researching, and will get back with something a bit more substantial.

I used the first google reference. Apologies if it isn’t up to scratch. Point being, you should research it for yourself.

grenme from JREF forums has got this up for comparison.

Look up Horus and compare him to Jesus yourself. If you can find any reputable reference anywhere that he was a)born of a virgin, b)on the 25th of December with c)12 disciples for instance, you’ll get me to reassess my opinion of this crap.

Ja no look, zeitgeist didn’t give me warm fuzzy feelings of truthfulness. While they were taking bits of the zodiac diagrams and drawing it to christianity and then linking that to a new world order then start going on about 9/11 conspiracies… I had a dumbpiphany.

hey cy, i wasnt dissing your post guy. that particular guy just seemed a bit suspect.

the idea zeitgeist has about subsequent religions stealing/building on an exiting religion totally makes sense to me.
taking an existing diety and remixing it to suit your particular tribe’s way of functioning. or your king’s vision for his people/slaves.
i think the basic god/sun thing was built upon and diversified, and ended up with a plethora of religions, some died out, some were marketed better, and become xtianity, islam, hinduism, whatever whatever.
the 9/11 thing… i dunno hey. the zeitgeist thing made some points which got me thinking. i dont think its as cut and dry as terrorists highjacking planes, flying into buildings… i wont know where to begin to find the truth, and we will propably never know. i have my theories, but im allways open to new/different info.

If he needs dissing, he needs dissing. Just make sure he is dissed for his arguments and not because he is an atheist or a theist or a democrat or a left wing commie bastard.

Indeed it does. Those bloody lazy Romans took over the Greek gods and just changed the names for Apollo's sake!

As long as whatever you are pondering, is backed up by evidence and not just "bespiegeling" (the hell is that in Ingrish anyone?)
i wont know where to begin to find the truth,
JREF is a very good source with some incredible knowledgeable people from all fields.
and we will propably never know.
Probably not but we do know quite a lot. And the "inside job" crowd have absolutely not a single shred of evidence to support its "bespiegelinge" -they just seem to like the possibilities. En dan verkondig hulle dit wyd en syd as gospel!

“Speculation,” “conjecture,” or “supposition.” Is my guesswork right?

'Luthon64

I’d go with “speculation”.

On all three counts
