Thanks for the two links. Most insightful. I agree with 'Luthon64 that the 15% is probably misstated.

They’re just links, I don’t claim they’re accurate and I fully expect people to doubt them. Problem is (and it is a problem), it’s probably the best data we’ve got.

As for meeting atheists: I have met a few out in the wild, but I work in a high-tech industry in joburg and on casual observation atheism seems to be a bit more prevalent in my demographic… Only a bit though, I still deal with incredible ignorance sometimes: Like people with B.Sc’s who tout “chi” and homeopathy.

Well, they don’t teach critical thinking in the B.Sc. course. And it seems like some people never master it anyway, no matter how much you teach them.
