Now I want to move to Australia

This morning during a Melbourne radio interview, the new Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard was asked point blank:
"Do you believe in God?"

Her reply:

"No I don't, John"</blockquote>

Jisses she’s a brave woman…let’s see what the woowoos and like make of that!

Here’s the interview:

a big WIN for gingers as well
and for the female species

love this woman?

is she married?
can i convert her?

She has a boyfriend, but maybe she’s bi?

Or perhaps not:

Gillard against gay marriage ???

I think she’s stunning - and I also wanna move to Oz. Remember the atheist conference in Oz a few months ago? It was sold out long before it started and had a record attendance (about 2500 people). And they have a gorgeous Prime Minister who is also an atheist - seems like a cool place to live.

she reminds me a bit of Jodie Foster…can shove her shoes under my bed any day!

She is definitely one of the better looking heads-of-state out there. But I have to wonder what the reasoning behind her decision is wrt gay marriage. I have to speculate that it’s got more to do with the “party line” than her own personal opinion.

Been thinking about that too. Perhaps she just isn’t really for marriage in general?

Marriage is perceived by many people to have a legal as well as a religious component, whereas I would imagine few seeing a civil union as having any holy attributes. Some churches do bestow civil unions, though. The best solution would be for legislation to call it all civil unions, and those who prefer could then have it “sanctified” in a religious ceremony. It would separate the legal aspects from the spiritual, leaving government to deal with only the former and putting the religious ball in the court of the churches. The distinction should not be between opposite gender and same gender unions, but between the legal and spiriual components.

Agreed, that would be a more sensible way to do things.
