I dunno - I guess if atheists, according to GothCatGirl’s pie-chart, constitute 4% and “non-religious” make another 15%, we may have around 19-20% of possible candidates. I know very little about statistics and things like that. I wonder how long it took for the general masses to accept the “round Earth” theory as fact? It may take longer for the “no God” theory to spread around but we can always do our bit.
For every Pastor we convert to atheism, there is another little girl we will save from being raped >:D (That was sarcasm - okay?).
from a pure ‘research’ perspective…no survey is needed to establish a fact in many instances…all you need do is ask someone who knows the true answer…e.g. How old is Mandela? ask him! or check his birth certificate. The ‘no-god’ theory will always be contentious because it’s unprovable. All you can do is establish what people believe…but then I don’t need to tell you that (wtf!!) ‘Round Earth’? there are still people who believe this!!!
Yes but they are the ignorant minority. And it will be the same with Christianity one day. Christianity has been conclusively proved (yes, PROVED) to be false … now it is simply a matter of education.
with you on that Steve, but I take it wider…Judeaism, Hinduism and Islam (just to mention a couple) are all false many for the same reasons. I know you focus on Christianity in your book. It’s always interested me why the majority of the western world believe in a Jewish god (Yahweh) and added to that a Jewish lay-rabbi (Jesus). The conclusion I arrived at? It was good marketing!
You have my book now so check out the section on the origins of Christianity - how they came from a sect of Jews called the Essenes. And yes - brilliant marketing mostly from a guy called Eusebius who had the task from a few Roman emperors, Constantine and his two sons and later Honorius (he may be the subject for another book and the man single-handedly responsible for all the shit Christianity has caused through the centuries).
