Around the corner from where I live, a christ embassy cell has sprouted, and has decided to plonk a fugly sign on the side of the road.
now, apart from the sheer ugliness of this thing, i’m pretty damn sure you need to dodge some red tape in order to just put up signs where the hell ever you please, thus, i find this document http://www.polity.org.za/polity/govdocs/regulations/2000/reg0685.html, which says, amongst other things:

PART C: TYPES OF ADVERTISEMENTS AND REGULATION OF THEIR ERECTION OR DISPLAY Small billboards and tower structures 1. Small billboards may not exceed 18 square metres in area and 3,5m in height, and must have a clear height of not less than 1,5m. They may be pole-mounted units of not more than four panels. No panel or board on a tower structure may exceed 4,5 square metres. The clear height of a tower structure may not be less than 2,4m, while the maximum height shall not exceed five metres. 2. No person may erect a small billboard or tower structure in a visual zone in an area other than an urban area of partial and minimal control. 3. No one may erect a small billboard or tower structure on a road where the applicable speed limit exceeds 80 km per hour, without first obtaining the written approval of the Agency. In deciding whether to grant or refuse such approval, the Agency must have regard to— 
       1. the matters set out in regulation 6;
       2. aesthetic and ecological aspects,
       3. the consideration that tower mounted advertisements must be "internally oriented" and not be aimed at road users outside the shopping centre or transport node;
       4. the consideration that tower structures must be of a high visual standard and harmonize with buildings and streetscapes;
       5. other factors specified in the Act or these regulations or that the Agency regards as relevant.

   4. The approval contemplated in sub-regulation (3) must be granted for a specified period.</blockquote>

i got the number of the brother who-ever that’s running the show. but i wonder it will even be worth it to phone him.
how does one get shit like this checked out and removed?

These guys are rogues of note, particularly ‘Pastor Chris’. I was going to write a blog post about them, but all the stuff on the tubes was very much hearsay, but where there’s smoke there’s probably fire. There are allegations of all the usual cult stuff up to and including theft, kidnapping and so on. Your pics look a little bit like Midrand. Where is this sign?

i’ts on the old olifantsfontein road. i was considering trying to pull it down with car. i think someone allready tried to pull it down, since i could allmost imagine that the sign was vinyl first, then on sunday i thought i saw it crumpled on the ground, put i could be wrong. our neighbourhood policing forum doesnt take kak, and im quite surprised they havent pulled it down yet.
