Remote against head

Seen this on Top Gear. A car remote control that is just out of range, but if you press it against your heat the rage increase and the car lock or unlock. I’ve tried it with my gate remote and it works! What is happening here?

if i press it against my heat, then it will only get wet, and fishy.
if i press it against my head, then i might get a brain tumour.

if i press it against my heat and the rage increases, it means i need to get new batteries. or a new boyfriend.
if i press it against my head and the rage increases, it means i’ve popped a vein in my head, and im about to go on a killing spree.

if i press it against my head and the range increases, i will be pleasantly surprised. maybe coz the signal is bounced about in my empty head then flies out my other ear and the signal is concentrated.

@Tweefo: Have you tried it with an assortment of other materials in different sizes and shapes? It seems like some form of increase in transmission aerial is occurring and that your head being a head has little to do with it. Try another body part like your knee or hip where bone is close to the surface, as well as others where bone is deep-seated.

P.S.: After extensive testing, I conclude that my ever-dodgy 3G connection isn’t improved by pressing my head or other part of me against the body of the modem…

Thanks, that explain it a bit I think. But then, I am a bit brain damaged so do I have more or less range?

Ok this is not exactly the same thing but also concern car remotes:
Earlier this week a colleague told us that car thief’s now use gate remotes to prevent people
to lock their cars, by keeping the gate remotes button in. Many vehicle systems arm soundless, people walk away unaware of their cars not being locked. Well as usual, …I wanted to see it before I believe it! We’ve test it on 2 Toyota’s and :o, no reaction to lock or unlock if one of these blue gate remote buttons are kept in (the older black remotes doesn’t work at all) Test it on VW and it locked and unlocked like normal. This could be a pain in da *** for Toyota owners :wink: We’ve test it as far as 5-8m away, still no reaction.I suppose the reception/active area of the gate remote to influence a car might be approx 15-20m max?
Would you guys mind to test this on your vehicles and give some feedback?

does this mean that nothing happened to the toyota

and

Test it on VW and it locked and unlocked like normal
it worked on the VW?

The blue gate remote deactivated the Toyota’s locking system by not allowing you to open or close the car(Frequency problem), but did not have an influence on the Vw :wink:

the gate thingey definitely works: my gate is about 300m away and won’t work until I hold the remote against my curly top (as opposed to the alternative mentioned by GCG ;D) and voila it works.

oh hell, that’s no good. that doesnt bode well for toyota owners then. makes one wonder how unique your unique frequency really is. i have heard of people’s tv’s changing unbidden, coz the neighbour’s remote keeps changing the channel.
luckily for me, my car is too old for bleep-bleep!
