'Miracle' as pastor returns from deep freeze

Karen van Rooyen

Pastor Ray McCauley’s recovery since heart surgery in May has been called a “miracle”.
The Rhema Bible Church founder had an emergency operation after suffering a major heart attack on the eve of an interdenominational prayer day before the World Cup.
This week, church administrator Giet Khosa revealed how the severity of the procedure required McCauley’s brain to be frozen for 10 hours.
“Medical science has proven that when someone has a heart attack, lowering body temperature can prevent brain damage,” he said. "So can cooling the brain itself.
“Medically, we were advised that the chances of survival were very low, but God has done a miracle in Pastor Ray because he is recovering at an amazing rate. Even doctors are surprised at the speed of his recovery.”
Khosa, who said he had been authorised to speak about McCauley’s medical condition, said doctors ruled out brain damage.

All sorts of comments, variously snide, caustic and derisive, spring to mind here concerning McCauley’s brain, his noble heart and sub-zero temperatures.

Agreed, its at times really tough to keep thoughts to yourself. It didnt hurt that he probably had top-notch skilled docs by his side 24/7, and didnt have to go to a public hospital like most of his congregation are forced to do. Miracle indeed…

Just waiting for these idiots to start making the claim that he was raised from death. ::slight_smile:

Medical science says “freeze the brain, it’ll prevent damage”. Medical science succeeds. God gets the credit. It doesn’t get any more typical.

Of course, God doesn’t get the credit for giving “the great Ray” a life-threatening heart-attack in the first place. Perhaps that’s to blame on medical science (and not the stuff he’s been snorting).

maybe god is trying his damnest to kill off the bastard, and satan is keeping him alive at all costs.

LOL. Yes - ironic.

maybe god is trying his damnest to kill off the bastard, and satan is keeping him alive at all costs.
LOL x2. Heheh. Our beloved Ray McC does rather leave himself open for ridicule, doesn't he. Some of these over-the-top woo-nuts (like Ray) are the best marketing for a religion-free life, and they just don't 'get' it. Heheh.

Hey, there were a few members contemplating a hoax email recently. If Rhema and the largest newspaper in the country can distribute such crap, why not give them their own medicine? Anybody is welcome to suggest improvements to the draft below.

Rhema Leader Brain Damaged

The leader of the Rhema Bible Church, Pastor Ray McCauley has sustained severe and irreversible brain damage. This has been revealed by Dr. S. Tager Palovski, neurosurgeon at Grootte Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
McCauley recently underwent intensive heart surgery that necessitated his brain to be frozen for ten hours. The procedure has been confirmed by his spokesman, Giet Khosa, who has been authorized to speak on McCauley’s medical condition.
“Medical science has proven that when someone has a heart attack, lowering body temperature can prevent brain damage,” he said. “So can cooling the brain itself.”
Khosa originally claimed that doctors ruled out brain damage, but Palovski has now denied this.
“In the freezing process, the blood vessels in the cortex lost their elasticity,” Palovski explained. “When the blood froze, it expanded with nowhere to go, resulting in nano-ruptures in the vessel walls. Later, when the blood thawed again, these nano-ruptures caused haemorrhage. The blood that seeped through the nano-ruptures has since crystallized. These blood crystals now cause the usual thought processes to get scattered.”
In the meantime Khoza insists that only he is authorized to comment on McCauley’s health. He has neither confirmed nor denied that Palovski was on the medical team that operated on McCauley.

You’d probably get your *ss sued Hermes, the story relates to a real person and however tarnished the guy’s image are to level-headed people, his “flock” will massacre you and your family and probably burn down your house and kick your dog.

Unless you’re REALLY good at covering your tracks, then I’m all for it!

Yes, one would have to initiate it carefully. I acutually don’t know the kind of people who would fall for something like this, though it might be a significant proportion of the population - the kind who believed the original Sunday Times story.

send it from some arb email address…

The plot thickens…

The pasting gives it more authenticity, but I would not involve City Press. A significant part of my disgust in this matter is in actual fact not directed at Rhema, but at the Sunday Times. Had the original report appeared in The Sun or some of its ilk, it would have been expected, but it seems as though junk journalism is spreading to the formerly reputable newspapers as well. For that reason the publication that came up with the initial woo should be targeted.

We have obviously blown our cover in this instance, but the concept may be taking root.

Please let’s put in the article that as a result of this brain damage, McC now actually believes in God. Pleeease.

;D
His followers would argue that his memory is affected. Let’s just strengthen his faith. Updated hoax:

Rhema Leader Brain Damaged, Born Again

Surely Pastor Ray, as tuned in to his master’s message as he claims to be, should have enough faith in his lord’s ability to heal him without having to resort to surgery? He should have relied on god to give him a new heart, after all he has by his own admission had a change of heart before in life when he gave up being a pimp/drug dealer/bouncer and decided to become a devout christian businessman instead.

While god was sorting out his heart, a bit of divine intervention on the aesthetic side, a bit of cosmic cosmetic surgery would also have been a good move.

funny >:D

a devout charlatan con-artist more likely

Yup, it seems we’re talking about the same Ray. The guy who leads his flock to the financial slaughterhouse every Sunday and a few times in the week too.

he fiscally flucks his flock!

LOL ;D
