I came across this article while browsing the net. As if gang-rape was not enough.
Amnesty International has condemned the stoning of a 13-year-old girl in southern Somalia. The human rights organisation claims the teenager was stoned to death after her father informed the authorities that she had been gang-raped. She was reportedly accused of adultery and the stoning, in front of a crowd of around 1,000, was her punishment.
And we do business with these people?
According to the CIA’s World Factbook, Somalia is mainly a Sunni Muslim community.
In this case, it seems like the girl was accused of adultery. Had it been classified as rape, it might have had another outcome.
According to the Koran, a married woman may not be forced, which is considered adultery, unless she is a slave obtained through war (Surat Al-Ahzab 33:50). Adultery leads to loss of faith and the punishment is 80 (or 100) lashes or death by stoning.
Now, if they were a Christian nation, she would only be stoned if she had not screamed loud enough, which would have been a sign that she enjoyed the act of being raped.
In my opinion, there is only one suitable solution for this sort of behaviour…
this kind of non thinking behavior saddens me no end.
Then again when your holy book says women are less then males, you let this kind of
rationalization and thinking in. Especially if your told and taught that it is beyond questioning,
unaltered direct from the sun baked prophets mouth, and that his example is the one your supposed to live by.
Hell we just had some indonesian muslim cleric marry a 12 year old, outrage? not really because Mohammed married a 6 year old and consumed the marriage when she was 9. Yeah real great example he was :P.
